Celebrating the hands that keep our heritage alive

India has celebrated National Handloom Day on the 7th of August since 2015, commemorating the Swadeshi Movement, which was launched on the 7th of August 1905. Our handloom industry serves as a beacon of eco-friendly practices and a champion of women's empowerment.

Our little colourful bundles visited the 'Coimbatore Industrial Weavers Cooperative Production and Sales Society Limited', located at Dr.Alagesan Road, to observe the art and magic of weaving threads into tapestry. They watched the processes like "shedding, picking and beating in" and got inspired to keep the legacy of handloom alive. On this colourful day of observation, they enriched their vocabulary by learning new words. This field visit instilled in them the spirit of conserving our heritage.
